How do bacon wrapped strawberries sound to you? You mine as well queue up some C+C music factory on your itunes, because that is definitely something that will make you go hmmm. The recipe is as follows.
Berries in a Blanket
4 fresh strawberries (washed and with greens removed)
4 strips of bacon
1 tbsp chevre cheese divided into 4's (optional)
1 tsp aged balsamic (optional)
Clean up the berries, and hull them if you are going to do the goat cheese thing. Wrap each berry in one strip of bacon, and stick them with a toothpick. Bake in a oven heated to 350 degrees for 7 minutes on one side and then 3 minutes total. That is a grand total of 10 minutes for you math whizzes out there. Afterwards drizzle with balsamic lightly, if you're into that sort of thing ( you pervert ).
That all seems pretty tasty right? I think so. There is a nice balance of sweetness in the berry to salty and porky in the bacon. Personally I feel that goat cheese and balsamic vinegar sounds really good in theory, but in practice and quantity, it's not really doable. This recipe is for one, but you can make an infinite number as long as you follow this complicated equation:
1 berry + 1 strip of bacon = this
This wacko that came up with this also suggested chocolate sauce, which is just bonkers enough to work.
